The Story Behind V-TV

Updated: Sep 26, 2023

When I was a kid, I just wanted to be famous. I grew up watching Disney Channel, musicals, and listening icons like Beyonce, Rihanna, and more. I was in love with performing - the whole idea of being up on stage, having those big, bright lights shining down on you, and hearing the crowd scream and go crazy for you was just so exciting to me.

It felt like it was my destiny.

I faced lots of adversity when I was in high school. I never felt like I belonged or fit into a certain group. I had always loved acting (musical theatre specifically), but my directors never wanted to give me a chance to shine. I guess it was more important to have "certain faces" center stage. Was it because their parents were in the booster club and constantly gave the school money; was it because they looked more "marketable"; was it because they were more popular around the school; was I just not talented enough? I never quite understood why, but it always stuck with me and secretly bothered me.

When I started modeling in my city, it was hard for me to build my portfolio. Photographers and models are so "cliquey" where I'm from, and if you aren't a well known face in the city, no one even bothers to give you the chance. Other models were secretly black bawling me, and it was so frustrating trying to get my foot in the door; I almost wanted to give up. I was so tired of never being accepted and never feeling like I was a good enough artist to succeed.

I started to notice that there were so many other people that felt the same way I did. Young entrepreneurs trying to build their business but not being supported by family and friends, models not feeling like they are pretty or popular enough to book the photoshoot, music artists feeling like no one shows up to their shows, actors living the "struggling artist" lifestyle - the list goes on.

I know what's it's like to feel unaccepted, and I don't wish that feeling upon anyone. I want to be a voice, a platform, and a community for those that struggle to find a place where they fit in. I want to be surrounded by bosses and true creatives that are passionate about their dreams and ready to go at them full force. V-TV is a place for everyone to express themselves artistically and creatively, to engage with one another's business and artistic endeavors, and to enjoy the company of likeminded individuals.

I believe that creative expression is one of the most powerful tools that human beings can possess, and while I grew up in an environment that made me feel like I would never be successful and financially stable from pursuing my creative expression, I now see that there are so many ways you can monetize your creative expression and be successful by BEING YOUR OWN BOSS!

So I'd like to welcome you all to this journey of VicxenV-TV! Express. Engage. Enjoy.
