FIVE Pieces of Advice for Creators

Our consumers see the results, but they rarely get an inside look on the process. As a creative, I have learned that you are not ALWAYS flowing with ideas 100% of the time. Rest and evaluation are crucial parts of sustaining yourself and your ideas. Here are five pieces of advice I would like to give to all my creatives out there to ensure the longevity of their careers and endeavors.

1. BE ACTION ORIENTED.
Stop overthinking, and just "do".
Insecurity is a common feeling for many new artists and entrepreneurs. "Will they like my product?" "Will it sell?" "Does anyone care?" "Why don't they support me?"
Cancel out all the negative self talk. It hinders you more to sit and think about all the things that could go wrong than it does to simply just give it a try. Experience is the best teacher. It shows you the things that work and the things that don't, so rather than being afraid of it not working, be proud of yourself for trying and grateful for the lessons that you learned from this action oriented experience.
Thought gets you the idea, but the action that follows it what gets you the true results.

2. DON'T COMPARE YOURSELF TO OTHERS.
We all have our own journey.
This is YOUR life. You are the only person on this Earth capable of being YOU. Recognize that fact as a gift. You have all the power in your hands to be who you want to be and live how you want to live, so use that as motivation to take charge of your life and your dreams.
Everyone has their own timeline that they are operating and existing on, so their day to day may look different from yours. However, that does not invalidate your process just because it appears different. Be confident in yourself and your journey to know that your desired end result is within reach - all you have to do is be action oriented and don't get distracted by what going on in the other lane.
The only person you should be comparing yourself to is the person you were yesterday.

3. LOVE YOUR CRAFT MORE THAN YOU LOVE THE FAME.
True passion withstands anything.
When you create because you love it and not to impress others, that is when your craft withstands anything. We live in an era of social media. Everyone is broadcasting the better side of themselves and their lives, causing us to consistently compare and compete with one another for the spotlight. This can create feelings of insecurity and often times results in imposter syndrome because we are more focused on the "look" rather than the "feeling".
When we move and create from a place of feeling, logic, and authenticity, that is when our true talents and skills shine through. However, when we move and create from a place of greed, envy, and fame, we may get to showcase our results, but they weren't created from an authentic place. If we aren't creating from an authentic place, we aren't speaking and living our TRUTH.
Our stories, our process, our growth is what truly inspires people. Be proud of your story; be proud of your journey. Be proud of your craft, even if it doesn't initially get the recognition you feel it deserves. Your time will come.
Be true to YOURSELF and not to the fame. Fame is short lived, but true art lasts forever.

4. DO THE INNER WORK.
Inner work is necessary to put yourself in the right mindset when creating.
You are your biggest cheerleader, and only you know your inner thoughts and beliefs. If you are constantly feeding yourself negativity, you will never be able to fully indulge yourself in the beauty that could be. Whether you are an artist or an entrepreneur, there will be so many "No"s and lots of hurdles that you will have to overcome throughout your journey and career, and if you haven't done the inner work to develop a strong mindset and confidence within, then you will give up at that first sign of push back.
Doing inner work is a necessary self practice to build your mindset, and it also helps you to feel more inspired creatively. Practicing the Laws of Attraction, journaling your thoughts, working through your traumas, and affirming yourself are just a few forms of inner work that can help you to develop your mindset. Figure out the things that "get you in the groove" when you are brainstorming ideas or looking to create. Understand, accept, and be inspired by your story (even the sad parts). It is the driving factor to your success.
Developing your mindset is what gets rid of those feelings of insecurity, the need to compare, imposter syndrome, and never taking action.

5. BE PATIENT WITH YOURSELF.
It does not have to be perfect just starting out.
Like fame, everyone is always seeking perfection. While perfection is an admirable to trait to have, NOBODY IS PERFECT. When you are just starting out on your artistic or entrepreneurial journey, there are so many things to learn. "What is your brand's identity?" "What is your mission?" "What are your long term goals?" "How to you scale your business?" "How can you make a profit?" The list goes on.
The best part about starting out is that you are a fresh, new mind - a student to the game - with so much growth potential. Rather than be impatient and frustrated because you don't have it all together at your current stage, be thankful and take advantage of the fact that you still have so many great skills to learn and acquire. You only have room to gain more knowledge and experience, and that is a beautiful thing.
When your mindset is clear and strong, you understand that success takes time and dedication, and because you are action oriented and don't compare yourself to others or seek fame, you are patient with yourself and your process. The best results come from delicacy and attention to detail, not from trying to rush greatness.
So, don't rush yourself! You're right on time.

I hope these tips were helpful to you all! I am rooting for each and everyone of you guy's success! You've got this baby!
